Son Speaks in Defense of Alleged Credit Card Fraud

Posted:

We're learning more about the relationship between a missing man and the one charged with using his credit card fraudulently.

Captain Mark Toone with the U-S Marine Corps called our station after seeing Wednesday's report.

He says his father, Randall Toone, and Jon Barrett, who's been missing for six months now, have been friends for over 30 years since they worked together for the railroad.

As we reported Randall Toone is currently being held on a governor's warrant in the Clark County Jail in Las Vegas.

A spokesman for the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office says he could be extradited to Idaho very soon. When he gets here, Toone will face credit card fraud charges out of Bonneville County.

Sources close to the case say the card in question belonged to Jon Barrett.

According to Captain Toone, detectives are doing their job, but allegations regarding his father's fraudulent use of Barret's credit card or any rumors that he had a hand in Barret's disappearance have been completely blown out of proportion.

Capt. Mark Toone, U.S. Marine Corps, Randall Toone's son: "As far as I know there was just the one issue right there, and my dad had permission to do it.  If John was around this would be not even a factor, so."

Pocatello Police say they've been down to Las Vegas to talk to Toone about his relationship with Jon Barrett.
