The teacher from Bonneville School District 93 that has been charged with five counts of lewd conduct with a minor waived her rights to a preliminary hearing Tuesday afternoon.

Kari Atkinson was supposed to be in court Tuesday - the preliminary hearing is a chance for the court to hear the evidence in the case and make a decision whether there is enough to move forward with a trial.

By waiving her rights to a preliminary hearing, her case moves foward to district court for trial.

Atkinson was a teacher at Sandcreek Middle School and arrested on September 8th after the Bonneville County Sheriffs Office received an anonymous phone call that said Atkinson had been involved in a relationship with a student.

Atkinson is free on a $25 thousand dollar bail.
