SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Police say a Utah County man has died after a double jump on a motocross track at Jordan River State Park.
Thirty-1-year-old Brian Buttars, of Lehi, crashed after clearing the double jump about 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Salt Lake County sheriff's Lt. Don Hutson says Buttars was wearing protective gear, but suffered traumatic injuries and went into cardiac arrest. Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the park.
It's unclear why Buttars crashed. Hutson says no other riders were in the immediate area.
Park manager Bob Rosel, who works for Utah's Department of Natural Resources, says Buttars was at the park with friends and on a track for advanced riders.
There was another fatality in the park in 2002.
