Planes clip wings near Salt Lake loading gate

Associated Press - November 30, 2009 5:35 AM ET

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Officials say passengers aboard a Southwest Airlines plane were evacuated after it clipped wings with a FedEx cargo plane near the airport loading gate.

Salt Lake City International Airport officials say it appears the Southwest 737 plane was pushing away from the gate Sunday morning when it clipped wings with the cargo plane, shearing off a piece of the Southwest plane's wing.

Spokeswoman Barbara Gann says both planes were damaged but no one was injured.

The passenger aircraft had been bound for Albuquerque.
