Mecinna's company is called Price Products, and she focuses on products for children. Her prized invention - the "Dripstik" - sold 2-million units last year.

It started out as a simple idea, and has received a huge response. Mecinna Price is a local inventor responsible for several inventions, including the popular Dripstik. A Dripstik is a device that holds your ice cream cone or popsicle, and keeps it from making a sticky mess. Mecinna says she came up with the idea because of her family's love for the treat.

Mecinna Price, inventor: "We eat them a lot - as well as ice cream - at our house and with five kids, we were just having messes all over the place. I sewed at the time and I would spend a week sewing them an outfit and a week later it was destroyed by chocolate ice cream."

So after several prototypes, she came out with this design. It's lightweight, easy to use, and it can even fit in your car's cup holder. But this isn't the only thing Mecinna has invented. She has also designed 'It's a Boy' and 'It's a Girl' wristbands, along with T-shirts and an educational DVD for children.

Mecinna Price:  "I think as human beings, we tend to think small. 'I can't do this,' or 'I don't have the money to do that,' and if anybody in the world couldn't have done it, it was us."

Her company "Price Products" was started with an $80,000 loan she got from her father-in-law, but before this she never thought of herself as an inventor.

Meccina Price:  "No, never, but looking back I don't know how I didn't see it. It's very different because I think people view inventors as a crazy old man in a basement with wires all around him. So calling myself an inventor was kind of weird."

Mecinna has five children, and in the beginning they would all join in to help.

Mecinna Price: "Before, we would bring the whole family out to the garage and package Dripstiks before we had employees, and of course, you could have as many popsicles as you wanted when you were working."
