A rare opportunity in one of America’s most beautiful places where the weather will keep you on your toes!
KPVI-TV News 6 in Pocatello-Idaho Falls, Idaho seeks a Chief Meteorologist to deliver weekday weathercasts and on occasion, report. We seek someone passionate and experienced in producing accurate, informative, compelling and easy-to-understand weathercasts. Southeast Idaho presents rewarding weather challenges including severe and extreme weather. We need someone who has a great knowledge of meteorology, a person who has urgency, energy and an unbridled desire to win weather coverage. If you’re afraid to do wall-to-wall coverage, when warranted, this is not for you. This also is not a position for beginners. Qualified candidates will have a degree or certificate in Meteorology and at least three years of on-camera experience producing and presenting excellent daily weathercasts. You will lead a new team of weather professionals and be charged with creating the best product in our market. You must be aggressive, understand the need for immediacy, be willing to take direction and work well with the newsroom. We’re located within a couple of hours from the Tetons, Yellowstone National Park and Jackson, Wyoming and weather here can be very changeable. An understanding of our area is a plus, as is experience with WSI products. As for reporting, we need someone who can enterprise stories, ask tough questions and produce compelling weather-related stories and live shots. If we have flooding or heavy snow, we want you out in it! If you want to really make a mark in a local newscast, this is the opportunity.
