Phil Campbell

Phil Campbell was born in Logan, Utah. He has since spent most of his life in eastern Idaho. Phil and his wife live in Pocatello where they have two dogs.
Phil is a graduate of Idaho State University where he earned a Bachelors Degree from the James E. Rogers Department of Mass Communications. He was able to anchor and report for the school’s news program, Inside ISU.
Prior to attending ISU, Phil graduated from Shelley High School where he hosted the Russet News. It was here that he learned many of the fundamentals and shooting techniques that helped him land a job as Sports Videographer in 2000.
Phil moved through the photographer ranks fairly quickly and spent several years traveling around the country covering news and sports as our special assignment photographer. This includes covering the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics, traveling with the Idaho State University football team, and many trips to the state legislature and governor’s office in Boise.
Phil’s high quality of work has been recognized through his numerous awards from Idaho Press Club and Society of Professional Journalists. His video has also been used on the Today Show, NBC Nightly News, and affiliates across the country.
Phil’s versatility is a tremendous asset to the KPVI news team. He can handle just about any job on either side of the camera. His familiarity with our area contributes to each of his stories. His adaptability is occasionally demonstrated with Phil leading the newscast with a news story and then anchoring or reporting for the Sports Zone.
Phil loves working here and living in eastern Idaho. In the summer, you can find him longboarding the greenbelt and cheering on the Chukars. In the fall, you can find him tailgating and rooting for the Bengals. He enjoys the high quality of life that we all enjoy but it’s the people of eastern Idaho that he loves the most.
