Sasha Zimmerman

Sasha was born in Jefferson City, Missouri. She moved to Idaho about four years ago when she attended BYU-Idaho. Before that Sasha went to Jefferson City High School where she played powder puff football, basketball and varsity soccer. Sasha grew up spending her summers in Seville, Spain. Her mother is from Spain and her father is from St. Louis, because of this, Sasha is bilingual in Spanish and English. She enjoys reporting the news in both languages. You can find her stories in Spanish posted on the web.
Sasha’s love for reporting started in Middle School where she participated in a school news show every week. In High School she took a reporting class and helped put together a 30-minute program. When Sasha came to Idaho to begin college she already knew what she wanted to study. She gained valuable experience from her classes and her two internships.
Prior to graduating from BYU-Idaho Sasha interned at KRCG, a CBS affiliate in Jefferson City, Missouri. Here she learned everything from editing, to filming, to interviewing. During her internship Sasha had the chance to interview people like Alberto Contador (Tour de France winner 2007) and Bob Barker (The Price is Right former host).
In her second internship, Sasha found herself in Seville, Spain working for EMA-RTV, a national TV station covering all the area of Andalucía (Southern Spain), and other countries such as El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Colombia, Cuba, and Argentina. In this internship Sasha not only did television, but she also helped with the radio show “One World” every week.
Sasha is the oldest of two. Her younger brother is in High School. Her parents and brother all live in Missouri. Sasha was married to her husband Benjamin Smith December 2, 2011. Sasha loves Idaho and its surrounding areas. On her free time you can find Sasha outside either rock climbing, longboarding or playing soccer.
