Greek Food Festival:
Saturday August 25th. 11am to 8 pm. Free admission. Array of Greek cuisine delights and pastries. There will be entertainment from the Dionysios dance group from Salt Lake City. The profits made from the festival will go towards capital improvements on our church building which will celebrate it's 100th anniversary in 2015.
2 lbs. chopped walnuts
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
3/4 cup sugar
1 lb. unsalted butter
1 lb. filo
Lay down sheet of filo and butter. Repeat for about 7 or 8 layers. Then sprinkle layer of nut mixture add another sheet of filo and butter. Repeat until nuts are gone. Finish with layered buttered and filo for another 8 layers.
Bake at 300 F for about 30 min. Allow to cool before putting on syrup.
Syrup: 2 cups sugar, 2 cups water, 1 cup honey, few cinnamon sticks and add a few whole cloves.
Simmer together for about a half hour.
