Idaho State Police say another routine traffic stop on Interstate 86 lead troopers to nearly 90 lbs. of marijuana.

ISP conducted the traffic stop Wednesday, just before 9 a.m., on a silver 2002 Toyota Highlander near American Falls.

The truck was headed east and was stopped for a traffic violation. The driver was identified as Antonio Alvarez-Contreras, 51, of Gaston, Oregon.

Pursuant to the traffic stop, about 89.9 pounds of suspected marijuana was found and seized.

Alvarez-Contreras' 2002 Toyota Highlander was also seized. Alvarez-Contreras was booked into the Power County Jail where he was charged with trafficking a controlled substance.

The marijuana has a street value of $180,000.

What I don't understand, is why people who are trafficking illegal substances get pulled over? I mean, if I was carrying about 90 pounds of cannabis in my vehicle, I definitely wouldn't be speeding. I would be driving so paranoid-like that no one would ever suspect I was up to anything illegal. Just a thought.
