The actions of a police officer in New York City have captured the headlines across America. The officer purchased some boots for a homeless man who was sitting barefoot on a cold night in Times Square.

Here in eastern Idaho, many people will go to bed cold tonight because their homes lack the proper tools to keep them warm. Thankfully, a local business is hoping to change this for a lucky recipient by installing a new furnace in someone’s home.

It’s a Pocatello tradition and once again Barlow’s Aire Force One is bringing the gift of warmth to another deserving family.

Last year, 18 nominations were received for a new furnace and the needs of one man really stood out.

Rocky Stone has called Pocatello home for nearly 50 years. He raised his four girls and a grandson here but after his furnace quit working, Rocky was quickly running out of options. He couldn’t use the fireplace because the motor went out and a replacement was not available because that model had been discontinued.

Rocky then tried to heat the home with space heaters but they kept tripping the circuit-breakers of the home.  With his options running out, Rocky decided to pray.

“I didn’t know what to do or anything and I kind of wasn’t much for prayer but I said a little prayer and that was it,” said Rocky Stone. “Later that morning those guys’ boss called me. You could knock me over with a feather.”

After living for five years without a working furnace, Rocky was very grateful to those who nominated him and to Barlow’s Air Force One for bringing and installing this gift in his home.

“Really appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. Some people say I ain’t got one but I think I do because my heart is telling me how happy I am.”

This year’s furnace will once again be a top of the line Carrier high efficiency unit. They are asking for your nominees.

You can make your nominations by calling them at 208-233-0962. You can also mail your nominations to PO Box 2044, Pocatello, Idaho 83206. You have until December 14 to make your nominations.
