One of the nation’s largest electronic stores says they want to end so-called “show rooming,” which is when a customer goes to the store to check out the products, but then goes to buy it online for a cheaper price.
Starting March 3rd Best Buy is going to be matching prices which means you won’t have to rely on the internet as much to find the best deals.
“It was definitely something we wanted to do for our customers; we wanted to offer the best shopping experience possible for our customers so they get the best of both worlds now” said Best Buy representative Carly Morris.
Best Buy has struggled recently as online retailers have lured away customers with lower prices.
Now Best Buy is saying they will match prices at all local retailers and nearly 20 major online competitors.
“It’s a really simple process and it’s just a lot more convenient now because you don’t’ have to do all your shopping around and order it online and wait for it to come, you just go into the store, know the price, get the product, bring home and you know that you’re getting that best price” continued Morris.
Customers at Best Buy agree this is a good move for the store and are happy they won’t have to wait on the products to be shipped.
This price match is something best buy did over the holiday season, but now they want to make it permanent.
“The holiday was a great opportunity for us to kind of watch it and see what happened and then after the holiday passed we could kind of reassess and look at how it went and so that’s why we were confident that this is something we could move forward with” said Morris.
