Dealing with cancer is always hard, but especially if it’s a child who is the victim. Well this week camp magical moments is holding their free camp for children with cancer. These children are all ages 7 through 12 years old.
This week these children get to forget about all their problems and just come and have fun.
“I’m very grateful, I love camp and it’s just really fun” said Jack.
“Right now we’re doing photography which is pretty fun, all you do is go around taking pictures and we were playing Marco Polo in those weeds back there” Thomas.
“Right now we’re doing rock climbing and I don’t know if we’re going to do photography next or after lunch” Jann.
These children are from all around the eastern Idaho region. This year the camp has about 25 children.
“You know we are so fortunate, we say we get more out of it than the children do, we have volunteers that come in from all over the country at their own expense, you know we have no paid salaries” said Camp Found and Director Ann Walsh.
About 43 volunteers came together this year to show the kids a good time.
They do everything from rock climbing to horseback riding and even some zip-lining and swimming.
“I tell the parents and it may sound harsh but I say it’s not about you, it’s about the children being around other children who have gone through cancer and they need to know that they’re not the only one that has cancer” continued Walsh.
This year’s camp theme is the Wizard of Oz.
On Wednesday the whole camp will get together to celebrate life at the camp’s field of angels.
