With technology growing significantly and teacher’s budget’s not; it can be hard to incorporate new technological amenities into the classroom…..but now a company is giving teacher’s the chance to win some neat things for their classrooms.
CenturyLink wants to connect teachers with technology by offering $70,000 in grants in Idaho.
The CenturyLink Foundation’s Teachers and Technology Grant Program is now accepting applications from area teachers who want to implement
technology into their classroom.
“It’s interesting that when we began this teachers asked for very basic things, maybe a laptop, maybe a computer, maybe a white-board, but as the program has evolved and as the use of technology in the classroom has evolved, teachers have been asking for much more creative and innovative things” said Vice President and General Manager of CenturyLink Idaho Jim Schmit.
The deadline to turn in the applications is April 26th.
CenturyLink is looking for what teachers are already doing with technology in their classrooms.
Each grant given out can be up to $5,000.
“It’s really rewarding to be able to not only read the applications and see who’s selected as a winner but then also go to the classroom, surprise the teacher and their students in the classroom with the award, see the genuine thankfulness of the teacher and the enthusiasm of the students for what they’re going to be able to experience when the teacher buys this technology” continued Schmit.
CenturyLink plans to reward the grants before the end of the school year.
