Charges Issued in Deadly Boating Accident on Snake River

The Bonneville County Prosecutor's Office has decided to issue charges in a deadly boating accident which happened August 3 on the South Fork of the Snake River.

Deputies believe Christopher L. Fife, 34, was driving the boat while under the influence of alcohol.

The boat hit some rocks on the side of the river, stopping immeidately.

Passenger Cara Tomita died during the crash and Richard Olaveson suffered serious injuries.

The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office investigated the crash and submitted their report to Bonneville County Prosecutor Bruce Pickett.

Arrest warrants were issued for one count of involuntary manslaughter and one count of aggravated operating a vessel while under the influence.

Fife turned himself in Thursday morning to the Bonneville County Jail. His bond has been set at $200,000.
