A local landmark is putting Old Town Pocatello back on the map after a 20 year absence.

The restored Chief theater sign in Old Town Pocatello is drawing statewide attention.

The Relight the Night Committee behind the restoration of the sign was recently received preservation Idaho's Cultural Hertiage Award for their efforts in restoring the historic sign.

The sign was relit last November, 20 years after the chief theater burned down.

Members of the committee say they couldn't be more pleased with the sign and the recognition it's received.

"This is the most positive outcome that could have ever taken place after the fire. Instead of the Chief Theater history ending in 1993 when the building burned, the history of the Chief theater lives on because of this sign," said Relight the Night Committee Chair Randy Dixon.

The sign was also given a two page spread in the Idaho Commission of the Arts quarterly magazine Latitudes.
