A city councilmember in Idaho Falls has announced her intentions to run for mayor as current Mayor Jared Fuhriman confirms he will not seek re-election.
According to a news release from Sharon D. Parry, an official campaign kickoff will come at a later date, "Although I have received a great deal of encouragement to enter the race over the last several months, I am announcing at this time due to the high level of speculation and rumors that have been circulating.
I was holding off the announcement to maintain as much of a working relationship amongst the current mayor and council as possible. However, recent events have made it clear that making my candidacy known at this time will not hurt and may potentially help in moving our city forward.”
Parry is currently serving in her second term on the city council after serving three terms on the Idaho Falls School District Board of Trustees.
