Chubbuck residents celebrated Veterans Day by raising the American flag to half-mast at City Hall.

The mayor, police, family and friends all gathered to show their support and to honor these men and women who serve our country and gave their lives.

The ceremony began with raising the flag and continued with the Pledge of Allegiance.

There was also a prayer for our country and troops. The service ended with Mayor Steve England giving an honoring speech to those who have served. Mayor England says he is proud to be a part of the city’s annual tradition of paying respect to our war heroes living and dead.

"It's so important to remember the sacrifices of folks and those who volunteered, those who stepped forward when their country called and were willing to do whatever necessary, even to sacrifice their own lives in order to defend our freedoms," Mayor England said.

With Veterans Day officially on Sunday this year, many schools paid tribute to our countries veterans both Friday and Monday.
