On a spring day in Pocatello, a baseball squad from ISU took the mound against a team from Rexburg. The upper valley team however, is not officially affiliated with BYU-Idaho, however they have a number of BYU Idaho students on their roster. They are a club from Rexburg called the Rexburg rebels. And for just being around a short while, they already have an impressive group of analysts.
Colin Mackie and Brady Ramberg, in an analysis of the team, noted that, "They’re doing good, they’ve had a good season and they play some pretty big teams here in Idaho. They just want to get out there and play some ball. They’re doing good, they’re finding their groove, the first inning was a little rough (ISU) scored 4 runs but they’re getting there.
The Rexburg rebels did not win either game they played against the squad from ISU, however rain or shine, win or lose this team has an impressive road following.
Courtney Stutznegger and Lindsay Likes of Rexburg observed that, "Baseball is one of those sports where you can sit and watch if you want and talk with your friends; it’s one of those really relaxed sports that, the sun is out you can get some sun and just chill, it’s a nice thing to do with your friends."
In terms of the stats in games played, the squad from ISU beat the rebels from Rexburg 7-3 and 11-3 respectively. The Pocatello based team proved to have too much firepower and a decidedly strong pitching staff that kept Rexburg from coming away with a W. Both teams are in the early part of the season and will be surely making headlines with their play in the coming weeks.
