"I honestly, I still can't believe it. I have been filled with emotions this whole time, like in the car I have been, I don't know, crying of joy, and screaming and just freaking out. I honestly can't believe it. I feel really happy,” says Yadira Gil, ‘Make a Wish’ recipient.
Each year ISU's College of Pharmacy sponsors a child from 'Make a Wish', and a portion of the money will go to fully fund that child's wish.
This year's recipient is Yadira, an 18 year old girl who is so full of life and was diagnosed with Leukemia several years ago.
"At the beginning I thought it was just something like, kind of like getting the flu, it's just for a little bit and then it's gone. Well it wasn't, it actually took about a year and that year was the hardest year of my life,” says Yadira.
When Yadira was asked about her wish, she said many people want to go somewhere or meet someone, she just wants to be someone.
"When I was smaller I of course had a completely different dream and perspective of life, but now I realize that college is a huge step and I want to take that step. I just don't have the resources to do it and this was my wish and I'm just so happy that it's coming true,” concluded Yadira.
The ISU College of Pharmacy will be holding it’s 21st annual Spaghetti Feed Raffle and Auction on Feb. 28th at 6 p.m. in the Pond Student Union Ballroom.
Tickets for the event will be $5 per person or $20 per family.
