Coming up on Friday August 24th NBC’s show Dateline will be airing a high profile murder case that’s close to home. The murder of Angie Dodge shocked many throughout the area, and now the nation.

We got to sit down one on one with host of Dateline Keith Morrison.

He shared his thoughts on the Angie Dodge case as well as exclusive interviews with Angie’s mom and the man who many say is innocently behind bars today.

“It’s a fascinating case on many levels, for one thing, and I’ve been in this business a long time, and I can tell you without equivocation that there is no one else that I’ve ever met who has become so determinately, actively involved in her own offspring’s case, her own daughter’s murder as Carol Dodge has been” said Morrison.

Angie Dodge was a sweet young girl who was violently murdered in her Idaho Falls home in June of 1996.

After interviewing hundreds of suspects, one made a confession, but there was no evidence linking the supposed killer to the crime scene.

“I’ve been so wronged all these years, how could individuals do something to another human being like they’ve done to me?” said Chris Tapp.

“You’re an innocent man?” asked Morrison.

“Yes sir, I am” answered Tapp.

Luckily he’s still alive, despite that Angie’s mother Carol pushed for the death sentence.

“For 13 years they had me convinced that Chris Tapp was there, all they kept saying is “he confessed Carol, he confessed.”

Evidence over a decade later made Carol Dodge one of his strongest supporters and she’s been fighting for his freedom ever since.

“Let him go, it’s the only thing his mother has, it’s her only child, let him enjoy his mother, let his mother enjoy him, there’s just two of them, that’s all they have” said Dodge.

Over the years, many others have also come to the conclusion that Chris Tapp is innocent.

“And it’s still possible to find Angie Dodge’s killer, if they will only continue the search, so, I got excited about this story just based on that possibility. It might be possible, 16 years later to find out who did this, and at the same time, perhaps restore justice to a man who’s been in prison all these years when he probably shouldn’t have been” continued Morrison.

You can expect all of this and much more on Friday’s Dateline story on Angie Dodge.

It will air from 10 to 11 p.m. eastern time.

I saw a rerun of this show yesterday. Idaho Falls needs to have it's citizens stop being afraid and speak up. There are so many disturbing things going on behind the scenes there, it has gotten completely out of control. I don't live there anymore, thank goodness, but surely you can demand change. The ENTIRE Political/Judicial/law enforcement arenas there need to be cleaned out by the FBI.

Everyone here knows the Idaho falls police department has a few crooked police officers. I am sure one of those officers knows the truth.

I also think its crazy how the police wanted to wrap this case up even if it meant a innocent young man lost his whole life ahead of him. Makes me wonder if another officer was involved or a member of his church. I have pondered this for years. Especially where Angie told her Mother (Carol) she had done something bad. I wonder if a narcotics officer was involved because of Angies friends had connections in the drug game. I knew Angie real well and she was like a sis to me. I bet if every officer that worked at the Idaho falls Police Department was ordered to submit DNA they would find a match for the 3rd suspect. I just think its fishy how the Police took interest in locking up an innocent guy knowingly.

I agree he was railroaded. Funny how the Mayor just came out to the public about his new memory loss disease, they did a whole story about it on the news about a month ago. Nice timing! You know his PR people had that all wrapped up.I hope people remember that on election day.
