Dodgeball can be a dangerous sport. Trajectories can fly past your head at triple-digit speeds but today these people were gathered together to support the Idaho Food Bank.

Gold's Gym is a prime location for daily inspirational workouts, but tonight it was the site of a dodgeball game that donated proceeds to the Idaho Food Bank.

The cost for each team was $75 dollars, which will allow the Idaho Food Bank to spread around to help those who struggle with hunger. A representative for the Idaho Food Bank reminded us of the impact that each donation makes:

"I can tell you in Idaho that one in six Idahoans is considered food insecure."

The Idaho Food Bank helps bridge a vital gap for individuals who struggle to have enough food to eat. This dodgeball competition as well as the aid of volunteers and donations makes a drastic impact on those who suffer from hunger.

"93,000 kids 19 and younger. 23,000 kids five and younger, right here in Idaho, it's crazy."

I spoke to Paul Shepard, an avid dodgeball player and event organizer, who gave his thoughts:

"You have nothing to lose. It's for a great cause, the Idaho Food Bank, so what's the worst, you break a sweat? Come on down and have fun."

Nearly any type of food is accepted at the Idaho Food Bank which is always looking for more donations to reach out and help to feed the hungry right here in southeast Idaho.
