Colleges are always trying to find ways to raise money to further students’ education.
One college in east Idaho has thought of a new way to raise a few bucks.
You know, the Eastern Idaho Technical College isn’t just a place to study, but a place to shop as well.
The Eastern Idaho Technical College is on a mission, they want to raise money for their students.
“At a technical college our demographic is a little bit different than a typical university; we have a lot of single parents, or individuals that are re-entering the work force after being laid-off, and so money is always a factor for our demographic and when our students get those scholarships it means that they can obtain their educational goals” said EITC Scholarship Coordinator Teresa Borrenpohl.
So EITC is hosting an online auction to raise scholarship money for the students who go there.
“We have really practical things like gift cards to get dry-cleaning done or some more expensive and fun items like, we have handbags and we have an autographed Boise State football” continued Borrenpohl.
All of the items are up for bid, some you can buy on the spot and others are bid only.
After the bidding is over you have a week to go pick up your items.
“So it’s like a great mixture of e-bay and a silent auction, you go to www.dollars4EITC.com and you become a registered user, you can peruse through all the auction items we have and then you just start bidding” said Borrenpohl.
All the proceeds from the auction will then be given to EITC students in the form of scholarships.
“Essentially students fill out an application and have a personal statement written about why they chose EITC and how their education will enhance their professional goals and then an individual writes a letter of recommendation for them” continued Borrenpohl.
If for some reason you don’t want to bid on an item but would still like to help out the students, you can donate money by sponsoring a scholarship.
The auction closes on February 9th at 7:00 p.m., so be sure to place your bids in before that.
