Snake River Landing invited all the schools in the Idaho Falls area to participate in the Snake River Landing holiday food drive benefit for the Idaho Food Bank.
Woodland Hills Elementary came in first place in the competition.
The school was rewarded $1,000 from Snake River Landing to go towards educational efforts.
Woodland Hills staff said they were going to use the money towards new library books the kids could check out.
“It’s great and it’s great to have a contest and it’s great for the kids to compete but the most important thing was for them to learn about giving back” said Woodland Hills Librarian, Shelli McBride.
“Woodland Hills was the winner and they did amazing, they brought in over 2,000 pounds just by themselves which the Food Bank said was one of the most they’d seen from one school” said Assistant of Ball Ventures at Snake River Landing Anjanette Garner.
Other schools in the area that also did very well in the food drive include Ammon Elementary, Fairview Elementary and Discovery Elementary.
