In Idaho Falls they also offered for the first time, Field of Honors Memorial. Summer Joy was there and has the details.
This May, volunteers gathered to post one thousand United States flags in Freeman Park. The display is hosted by the Idaho Falls Exchange Club Foundation. They held a memorial service and had reenactments from the civil war. They had a goal with this sea of red, white, and blue to help people, “remember and reflect in a salute of the living to those who serve, defend and sacrifice to preserve our nation and way of life.”
I talk to people about the American Revolution and those early Patriots who started it all. We are honoring, both, those who came before and those who survived and we are thanking them by honoring them with this weekend and day. Just the patriotism of being an American and what it means to be an American and thanking those individuals who made it possible," said Ben Carlos, a Civil War Reenactor.
The Field of Honor will continue through May 27th at Freeman Park. For more information on this event or to find out the schedule of ceremonies, music, flyovers, or reenactments click on the below link. http://www.healingfield.org/idahofalls13/
