"America is special so let's do something that's fun that we only do once a year," said Kelly Willie, owner of American Fireworks. The 4th of July is a day when people celebrate their country and traditionally it involves fireworks. Last year, the Charlotte fire stalled the use of fireworks, but that is not the case this year.
"There is no ban this year and it’s legal to light fireworks off in the city of Pocatello," said Willie.
Hearing the pops and seeing the sparks can be fun for many, but fireworks can also be dangerous if not used properly.
Willie added, "Don’t discharge illegal fireworks, the things that go in the air, it’s just obviously dangerous. It’s just not a good thing to do. If you’re a mother or father or anyone, if you light the legal stuff in a safe place, they’re safe."
It’s also important not to leave fireworks unattended when there’s children around.
“An unwatched child can sometimes be mischievous with fireworks around. At all times, don’t let your kids light fireworks without you being there to watch your kids,” Willie said.
After taking the proper safety precautions its time to enjoy the sights and sounds, American Fireworks, has been around for almost 30 years and has a large variety to choose from.
Finally Kelly Willie noted that, “We have over 200 different varieties of different fireworks. This includes about 150 of the various fountains. We’ve got a big selection if people want to try different things, we’ve certainly got it here for them.”
