Gas prices in Eastern Idaho are continuing to drop, which is always welcome news, especially around the holiday season.
The recent change in gas prices is saving you just that, some change.
"We're trying to relieve the consumer from the pinch at the tank because it's crazy. How much money people put in their tank in a month and that takes out of the family's budget like crazy," said the owner of Potter Sinclair in Pocatello, Jim Potter.
Fuel is right around $3.15 at a lot of stations in Pocatello, which is significantly lower than the $3.50 per gallon last month. No one is complaining about that, but why is the price, just 40 miles north in Idaho Falls, so much lower?
"I understand people are frustrated with gas prices compared to Idaho Falls or Blackfoot, all I can say is I think there are some things going on in Idaho Falls, maybe even Blackfoot, that a lot of people don't know about, as far as price wars or maybe even their wholesale prices a little cheaper than ours.”
With prices as low as $2/75/gallon at some stations in town, will Pocatello ever see those kind of numbers?
“Just patience is what I'd say to a lot of people. Gas prices are falling, I don't know how much farther they'll fall, but I'd like it as well.”
We did talk to a few gas stations in Idaho Falls as well, and they told us that the price war is thought to be over, and now the low prices in Idaho Falls are simply because that's what the supplier is enabling them to be at.
