The price of gas is up just over two cents in the past week to average $3.69 per gallon in the Gem State according to GasBuddy.com.
Nationally, the price hasn’t budged and sits at $3.68 per gallon.
Right now, prices are nearly seven cents higher than a year ago and are ten cents higher than a month ago. Across the US, the price is up over three cents in the last month and close to 18 cents higher than a year ago.
GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick Dehaan says, “the good news is that we're seeing signs that the peak price we hit last week is starting to unwind, but with July 4 just days away, motorists shouldn't be expecting any big retreats in price before the weekend.” Dehaan also says that this will be the most expensive July 4 at the pump since 2008 but if the situation in Iraq stays calm and hurricane activity remains minimal, motorists will continue to see a slow decline in prices.
