After high school a majority of students will go on to college to prepare for a job in a career…but the Eastern Idaho Professional Technical High School says they can help students prepare for careers before they even get to college.
“Ok in our Eastern Idaho Professional Technical High School we offer CAN, CMT, Pharmacy, Technician, Culinary, Automotive 3, Information
Technology, Early Childhood Professions and Education Assistant” said Kristen Dunnells.
These are all the classes high school students from Firth, Shelley, Ririe and Idaho Falls School District 91 have to choose from if they wish to
get a head start in their career paths.
Many of the students who take these courses will walk away with a certificate, license or dual credit for any Idaho university.
“It’s exciting cuz it’s just like, I’ll have a job as soon as I graduate and I think that’s really good” said student Taylor Lockyer.
These courses take out a good chunk of the day, so students who want to participate are encouraged to plan out their high school career
“We really want parents to get involved, we want the conversation to start at home, what your child wants to be when they grow up, so 4 year
plans can be made and decisions can be made early” continued Dunnells.
If you are a parent of a student who would like to take one of these courses you can contact the high school counselor’s office and ask about the Eastern Idaho Professional Technical High School.
Parents of children who are interested in taking these courses should know that the child will take his or her daily core classes at their own high school and then travel to the facility where their career preparation class will be held.
