I disagree that it is too early to ask for help, neither the 2 year old nor the 2 month old had any control over the circumstances. The fund was setup with a bank and will be handled as a trust for the children no matter where they end up. For the time being, the kids are with blood relatives and the family can use help during a crisis, as any family appreciates help in a crisis. The parents were in their 20's and will have very little social security available, other funding can be slow to come and any bridge funding is helpful.

Under the circumstances, I believe it is a little premature to be asking for money to provide for the children's future. More than likely where the girls are ultimately placed will be a matter for the courts to decide. I imagine the children will be elgible for their parents' social security until they're 18 years old, or some other kind of financial assistance unless they're adopted.
