Police officers got quite the surprise this morning during a routine traffic stop in Idaho Falls.
A drug k9 from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office was requested to assist with a search of the vehicle.
During the search, a homemade explosive device was found in the trunk.
The bomb squad was then dispatched to the scene.
19-year-old Dallin B. Baggett of Rexburg was taken into custody and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, transporting explosives and unlawful possession of a bomb or destructive device.
The westbound lanes of US 20 were blocked for about 3 hours between mileposts 311 and 313 while the device was removed and destroyed.
