From Jared Allen to Tommy Lasorda, the Gate City has been home to some of the biggest names in sport. Combine all of these greats, throw in a few superheroes and you’ll know exactly how it felt for the workers at New Day when the ISU Baseball Club came in for a surprise visit.
“I love it,” said a worker.
Another worker said, “I love baseball and I’m a big fan of it.”
New Day supports all things ISU and that includes the club baseball team. Whether it’s a coincidence or not, New Day’s increased involvement this year coincides with one of the team’s best conference records ever.
“These guys bleed orange and black,” said Terry Fredrickson, CEO of New Day Products and Resources. “They sit there and make Idaho State University shirts and Idaho State University products all day and so for them to be able to meet the athletes and be able have a ball signed, this is huge for them.”
The baseball club is getting ready for a huge conference showdown with Utah State. Both the Bengals and Aggies are undefeated and the winner of this weekend’s series at Halliwell Park will win the conference title. With so much on the line, you might think the baseball club would want to wait but instead they decided to thank some of their most loyal fans.
“I think it’s great,” said Tyler Lind, Centerfielder for the Bengals. “I think it’s a good opportunity for us to come out and interact with the community and it’s really nice to interact with these people. It’s awesome.”
Opening pitch for the two day series is scheduled for 1:00 PM at Halliwell Park. The Bengals are hoping for a good crowd and as always, admission is free.
