A power outage in the Idaho Falls area is forcing the Idaho State University campus and A.H. Bush Elementary to shut down early.

Margaret Wimborne, Coordinator of Communications for School District 91, says school will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m., Friday.   Wimborne says the district will bus students home according to the typical bus routes.  Currently administrators are calling parents to notify them of the closure.

Idaho State Univesity also sent an alert to students that the Idaho Falls campus would be closed Friday because of the outage.

The outage is also impacting some 6,000 homes in northwest Idaho Falls and including the downtown area.

Officials with Idaho Falls Power say crews are working to fix the problem but, at this point, there is no timeline for the outage to be repaired.
