Veterans Day may be Sunday but Thursday afternoon, student-veterans at Idaho State University were already honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
At Cadet Field on the ISU campus, students read the names of the 217 Idaho service members killed during the Vietnam War.
The reading is held in coordination with the ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall in Washington D.C. where 58,282 names are read.
Joe Carson, member of the Idaho Falls chapter of the ISU Armed Forces Veterans’ Club says it is important to remember those who have paid so much.
“I retired from the Navy and it's good to see us all come together as one and honor all the ones that have already passed and the ones that are still serving,” said Carson.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall.
