The Idaho Department of Lands is proposing to exchange approximately 14 acres of State Endowment Trust land in McCall for a 32,138 square foot commercial office building on 3.14 acres of land in Idaho Falls.

The 14 acres in McCall are currently being leased by the University of Idaho and being used as the McCall Outdoor Science School.

This land exchange would benefit the state of Idaho by doubling the lease payments they receive for the endowment from about $240,000 to about $540,000 every year.

The exchange will be completed through an arrangement with a private third party.

“It feels very positive that we can help out the University of Idaho obviously and then of course help out their endowment of distributions by getting basically 100% more in these payments going toward it and helping out the whole scenario, and hopefully be in the business and leasing for a long time while we’re in this area” said Idaho Secretary of State Ben Ysursa.

After the exchange is completed the University of Idaho will work to bring the McCall property into their ownership. The Land Board will vote on this exchange in a week.
