The Christmas holiday has come and gone and now all those Idaho Falls residents who have a live Christmas tree that needs to be disposed of can do so.
The city of Idaho Falls has set up over 18 disposal sites.
Because of a new garbage handling procedure at the Bonneville county transfer station, residents will not be able to get rid of their Christmas trees by putting them in with regular garbage.
“This is a good thing, it keeps them out of the landfill like I say, we mulch them up and we re-use it in people’s flower gardens and regular vegetable gardens so it is a good thing and we wish everyone will use them”said Superintendent for the Sanitation Department Tony Arehart.
You can find a complete list of the different disposal sites here. These will be open through January 31st.
The city of Pocatello finished up all of their Christmas tree disposals yesterday, January 8th. If you still have your Christmas tree and are looking for a way to get rid of it you can take it to the landfill.
