After 31 years in law enforcement, Idaho Falls Police Chief Steve Roos has announced his retirement today at a press conference.
He has served the last 5 years as police chief for the police department.
Now he plans on going to Brazil to teach English for the next five months, after that he and his wife will go serve an LDS mission.
“I’m not looking at retirement in a traditional sense; I’m looking at it as just really moving to the next phase. My wife and I have always had the goal that when we became empty nesters that we’d begin a life of service and so I’ve always kind of referred to that as the Franklin model, which you know, Ben Franklin worked the first half of his life, the 2nd half of his life he devoted to service, so we wanted to do the same thing” said Roos.
Police Chief Roos and his wife Rebecca have 7 children.
