18 high school marching bands gathered at Holt Arena Saturday morning for the annual invitational. High schools gathered from all over the state and were broken into four divisions based on member size. Idaho State University hosts this competition every year as an opportunity for the marching bands to have a moment in the spotlight and to show off all their hard work throughout the year.

Idaho State University Drum Major Blake French played the part of Band Host during the competition, and said this about today’s activities: “The football games we play at, we're more there to support the football team and everything, so it's not really like the spotlight's on us, it's on the football team. So like when we come here everyone’s like, we're only here to watch the band. That's all it's for, and it's really cool."

The Idaho State University marching band had the opportunity to perform an exhibition at the end as well and helped showed the high school students what they had to look forward to if they continue playing into college.
