The Idaho International Choral Festival has become a destination event for choirs and music fans throughout the world. This year’s event is underway in the Gate City. Phil Campbell tells us what it takes to put this performance on every three years.
Music filled the air as patrons filled their stomachs on the quad. It was a unique lunch opportunity at ISU as choirs from around the world sang in perfect harmony.
“It’s an amazing chance to experience international music,” said Paul Link, Co-Chair of the Idaho International Choral Festival.
This year’s event brings seven international choirs to Pocatello. They represent five different continents and are joined by three choirs from the Gem State. Paul says it takes a small army of volunteers to make this event successful.
“There are over 150 host families who open their homes to these visiting singers, feed them, get to know them,” said Link. “It’s a great cultural exchange and there’s only two of these in the whole US.”
If you missed today’s lunch concert on the quad, you can catch them tomorrow at around 11:30 AM. There will also be four concerts tonight starting at 7:00.
This year’s event is being posted online so that the families of our international visitors can watch the performance back home.
