Students at Bonneville High School are trying to raise awareness of meth. The school invited the Idaho Meth Project to come speak to the students.

The Bonneville High School gym was packed today, but not for the usual basketball game, instead, it was full because students were learning about meth prevention.

More and more methamphetamine is becoming a problem in the state of Idaho.

"People need to educate their children, I say at the age of 8 because if they don't learn about drugs from you, they will learn about drugs from their friends” said Tesja Erickson.

If you haven't seen their ads yet, you soon will as the Idaho Meth Project continues to push to inform people throughout the state.

"Kids tell us all the time that our ads scare them for one, and draw attention to the topic of meth and make them never want to try it which is good” said Idaho Meth Project Executive Director Gina Heideman.

"The videos we saw were really informative and kind of grossed me out” said Bonneville High senior Hailey Schell.

The high school even got to listen to a speaker who used to be on meth. She spoke about her experience with the drug and how hard and scary it was to let it go.

"I knew within the first three years that this was not the life I wanted to continue, but I was reserved at the fact that there was no way I was going to get out of it” continued Erickson.

The main message the Idaho Meth Project Campaign wanted to leave behind was this…..

"Not even once, not even once” said Erickson.

"The main message is obviously not even once; this is a very very addictive drug, it's the most highly addictive drug that's out there” said Heideman.

"I think this was good because it was interactive and I've never seen people listen so much in an assembly, people are usually talking and off in their own little world so it was really good that they were listening and there were so many people here” said Schell.

The Idaho Meth Project will continue to push to get their message out.
