Saturday morning Idaho State University held their 2013 Commencement ceremony. Thousands of degrees and certificates were given to these hard working and dedicated students. Summer Joy was there and has the details.
The only thing you saw on the Holt Arena floor Saturday morning were students and faculty dressed in the traditional cap and gown waiting in anticipation of receiving their diplomas.
"Just excited, I mean four years is a long time to be in school. So its just nice to celebrate it all," said a 2013 ISU Graduate.
Another graduate added, "It's just a great day, I'm so excited."
A total of 2,476 graduates will receive degrees and certificates during Idaho State University's spring commencement ceremonies, which began at 10 a.m. on May 11 held at the Holt Arena. Students I talked to say they were overwhelmed with joy and the feeling of accomplishment.
"ISU has been a wonderful school and I think it has afforded us with an excellent education. The school has given us a solid foundation on which to grow our career and to continue our education so that we can go on to be incredible successful people," said a 2013 ISU Graduate.
The ceremony included the national anthem, remarks from ISU's President Arthur C. Vailas, ISU Provost Barbara Adamcik, and Idaho State University Student Body President, Matt Bloxham. His speech encouraged students to take chances and believe in your-self while never forgetting school spirit or the Bengal Roar.
"Go Bengals!" said two ISU Graduates.
"I know it's really cliché to say, but believe in your self. But that really is a huge part of it and as long as you have a great support system you can go anywhere and be incredibly successful," added an ISU Graduate.
Many of the graduates plan to continue their education while some plan to take the leap into the working world.
"I'm really excited and nervous and have butterfly's," says another ISU Graduate.
"It hasn't hit me yet, that I'm graduating. We start Graduate School in July.
So I guess we aren't really done," said a 2013 ISU Graduate.
"We are looking forward to the next step in our life. Talking about what kind of jobs are available, if we have a job or if we can find one in the economy. We are just really hoping for a lot of wonderful things for our future," said a 2013 ISU Graduate.
With graduation day coming to a close, KPVI wishes their sincerest congratulations to the class of 2013.
