Neither company reported a purchase price, but the New York Times cites a source close to the deal who said Google will pay $23 million for Frommer's. The travel content includes guides and reviews. Google plans to incorporate them into its local reviews and travel results. The acquisition is another move towards Google producing its own original content rather than just being a conduit.

Barnes and Noble has cut prices on its Nook Tablet ahead of a reported update to the devices. On Sunday, the retailer announced a $50 drop in the price of its 16-gigabyte version. Other versions will be $20s cheaper. CNET had previously reported that Barnes and Noble would launch a new Nook tablet in late September. That version is expected to have updated screen technology. The Nook is part of an increasingly competitive field of mobile and digital devices that includes Amazon's Kindle Fire and the iPad.

If you're shopping for an iPhone, Target and Best Buy have dropped their prices on existing models. Target is now offering 16 gigabyte versions of the AT&T and Verizon iPhone 4S for $179.99 with contract. And Best Buy has slashed 50 bucks off the price of the eight gigabyte iPhone 4 for both carriers, it's now at $49.99. The price drops could signal the iPhone 5 is on its way.
