Good luck getting your hands on the Nintendo Wii U, it's off to a sold-out start this holiday season.
Nintendo
says it sold 400,000 units of its next generation console system in its first week, including Black Friday. Currently, the system is "essentially sold out" at retail stores across the country. 400,000 is a strong start for the Wii U, but it's short of the Wii's first week sales. Nintendo sold 475,000 of those systems during the same time period six years ago.
It's all over but the counting. And when the counting is done, it's expected that Cyber Monday will be the biggest online shopping day in history. Research firm ComScore says it's expected that Americans spent $1.5 billion Monday, that's up 20 percent from last year. That would not only make it the biggest online shopping day of the year, but the biggest since online buying habits were first tracked back in 2001. Compared numbers crunched by IBM Benchmark, online shopping rose 28.4 percent compared to last year. And sales from mobile devices, such as tablets and smartphones, rose 10.1 percent.
The Kindle family has much to be thankful for this holiday season, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This, as Kindle device sales more than doubled last year's record over the holiday shopping weekend.
Amazon
says this Black Friday and Cyber Monday were the best ever for Kindle e-readers and tablets, with Cyber Monday being the biggest day ever for Kindle sales worldwide. Kindle e-readers and Kindle Fires have held the top four spots on the worldwide Amazon best sellers list since launch of the new Kindle Fire nearly three months ago. As for the Kindle Fire HD, it's the most gifted and most wished-for product on Amazon worldwide.
