Koko Fit Club in Idaho Falls and Ammon is hosting their 15 minutes to fight cancer challenge. Summer Joy stopped by to see how it was going and to get the details on how you can help.
For 24 hours beginning Saturday, May 4 until 8 a.m. on Sunday May 5th, Koko FitClub members, employees and neighbors are invited to participate in one or more 15 minute cardio sessions at their local club.
"A few minutes can go a long ways to help out where we can," Cecilia Tew, a Participant.
When you do this you not only help Koko meet their goal, but any nonmember will receive a free 15 day membership. Each 15 minute session earns 500 Koko points; if their goal of five million total points is reached across the nation then Koko will donate $20 thousand dollars to the American Cancer Society. Employees say this is an opportunity for Koko FitClub to make a real difference in the fight against cancer.
"We want to give back to the community and Koko's really big about overall health and wellness. We offer specific health tracks to help with cancer, for example, we have a breast cancer recovery program. Which is specifically geared for those cancer survivors to regain their health and strength," said Chris Sorensen, the Manager of Koko FitClub.
The clubs in Southeast Idaho both have a goal of reaching 50 thousand points, and as of this afternoon they were at least half way there.
"It's only 15 minutes and its a great workout, your in and out of here very quickly. What's it going to hurt?" said Alicia Fabela, a Participant.
"It doesn't take long of your time, you get in a good workout, and you feel great after your done," added Cecilia Tew, a Participant.
You still have about ten hours left if you want to do your 15 minutes; this campaign to fight cancer is going to continue until 8 a.m. tomorrow morning. For more information on locations or details you can visit www.kokofitclub.com
