For a month now The Photography Boutique in Blackfoot has been collecting shoes to send to Africa in hopes to save children’s lives. Today is the final day they’re collecting the shoes.

The Photography Boutique in Blackfoot has teamed up with other Idaho professional photographers to send shoes to Africa where many of the children don’t live past the age of 16 because of parasites.

“It feels good to help others, anything I can do to help, people less fortunate than us, makes me feel good, I think the community feels good doing it, it’s been a big hit amongst our community and our community has donated a ton of time and effort to bring their shoes in and it’s been amazing to see” said Harmony Jones.

Jones has been stacking up the shoes in front of her window so people can see how many there are.

“It’s been amazing, we have thousands and thousands of pairs of shoes here, I anticipated hundreds and to see thousands is really amazing” continued Jones.

If you didn’t have a chance to donate shoes you can still give back by donating to the organization behind the effort which is called Dando Amor.

The shoes that have been donated will be taken to New York and then shipped on a boat to Africa.
