This coming Thanksgiving, over 200 jump rope athletes from across the county will participate in the Macy’s Parade in New York City. With those jump rope athletes a local girl from Rigby will be with them.
Where Proform Airborne Jump Team practices, that local girl going to the Thanksgiving Parade is Bailey Andrus.
With this opportunity she’ll be traveling with her coach, Monica Foster.
“It was unexpected, it wasn’t something we were planning on doing, Bailey came and said it was something she wanted to do,” said Monica Foster, Coach of Proform Airborne.
Bailey has worked hard to earn her money for her trip from fundraiser to doing chores around the home.
“I’m super excited I think it’s a really good opportunity and I’ve always wanted to go and I just, I’m glad I have a chance to do it,” said Bailey.
What inspired Bailey to be into this sport was when she saw a halftime performance at a slam-dunk competition.
“I like jump roping because it’s so unique and there’s just so many different ways to do it and it’s just not something plain and boring and I just love it,” said Bailey.
After Bailey and the Jumpers United for Macy’s Parade (J.U.M.P.) arrive at the fabled Herald Square; they will be featured in a live one-minute segment broadcast on NBC national television.
