Often, high school teachers struggle to get students motivated about the subject they’re teaching, but one English teacher has a lot to brag about after his students finally finished a three year project they’ve working on. A group of eleven students from Shelley High School just finished a novel they are now publishing.
It’s not often a group of high school students write an entire novel together, in fact, according to Eric DuPuis, before his students did it, a novel written by teens didn’t even exist.

“I’m so proud of them, so proud of them because the process was so long and so hard; and there was a time or two where I think we all, myself included felt like giving up on it” said teacher Eric DuPuis.

It took the students three years to do everything from writing, to editing to finding a publisher and so forth.

Just recently they were able to put the novel up for sale on Amazon Kindle.

“It took this many years to get here and we’re finally publishing, it’s been just an amazing feeling, knowing that all that work you put in, you finally, you have something you can be gratified with” said senior Brennan Taylor.

“I think it’s been a good experience we got to grow closer as friends, and just to experience different ways that you can be out in the world” said senior Jessica Harrison.

The novel itself is a collection of stories, but also comes together as one big story.

“So the resulting novel is absolutely unique, I’ve never seen anything like this, from students, it’s perhaps a little like the Arabian nights, that’s what inspired us” continued DuPuis.

The novel is called The Tale Hunters and is available on Amazon Kindle as an eBook for $4.

Many of the students who helped out with this novel are now graduated from high school.
