A group of students at Idaho State University are “Raking a Wish” for a young Idaho Falls girl.
“When service calls you just do it,” said Megan Moore, senior at ISU.
ISU students taking Dr. Bolinger’s Business Management class are putting their money where their mouth is, or I guess their rakes.
“Let us rake your leaves, we’re willing to do the work for your money we’re not asking for just a simple donation, we want to work for it,” commented Moore.
This project is a part of their “Make a Wish Challenge”, where they are raising money for a 6 year old girl with Mitochondrial Disease to help get her to Disney World.
ISU Professor, Dr. Alex Bolinger told us: “You can really see the difference that you make in the life of a child. These are families that have had a lot of difficulty, a lot of struggles, a lot of struggles ahead, so to brighten their day and give them something to look forward to really makes a difference.”
This project, which is spearheaded by Dr. Bolinger, gives the students the chance to help improve someone else’s life, but also improves their education and chances of getting a job down the road.
“What we talk a lot about is motivation, it’s more than money. You know, money’s important but at the end of the day to be able to make a difference in the lives of others, that’s what businesses are looking for,” added Dr. Bolinger.
The students will get the chance to meet their 6 year old beneficiary on December 12th and just hope they will have raised the funds to get her to Disney World by then.
“It’s fundraising and service all in one kind of, and to be able to help this little girl who is struggling on her own, and to make this wish come true, and give her the time of her life means the world,” said Moore.
