Usually when you think of pageants you probably think about little girls and young single women, but a group of mothers are saying that doesn’t have to be the case.
Mrs. Idaho along with other pageant delegates is coming to Idaho Falls tonight to encourage married women to join in on the fun.
“We’ll talk about why you might want to join a pageant and how as a married contestant that might feel a little bit awkward, but why it’s so important to do it even now that you’re married” said Mrs. Bonneville County, Jennifer Austin-Mathewson.
Jennifer says being married or having children shouldn’t stop women from doing a pageant.
She also says being Mrs. Bonneville County has helped her address important issues in the community.
“Having the pageant made it easier I think for me to go out and promote my cause, which is saving and protecting our children, and that was why I decided to go ahead and do it” continued Jennifer.
Jennifer spends a lot of time teaching classes about how to prevent child sex abuse; and how to know what to look for.
“I never thought it could happen in my family, and when it did, it was by far the hardest year of our life” said Jennifer.
She says being an advocate for children has helped her heal while at the same time being Mrs. Bonneville County has found her new friends.
If you are interested in going to the Mrs. Idaho America Meet and Greet, that will be tonight at 7:00 at the New Sweden Hall which is located on 5990 South 45th West in Idaho Falls.
