Mike Vanderkooi. We have crossed paths with him before. He was part of one of our spotlights on Volunteers back in March. Fast forward two months and Mike is still helping at the food bank as dedicated as ever.

"I think that its so tragic, for instance i volunteer at the idaho food bank its tragic that people go hungry."

Mike has MS and limited use of his legs; however it doesn't keep him from putting in 25-35 hours per week for the Idaho food bank. He sorts food, bags it and puts it in the right crate. He stays busy with service at the Food Bank and Portneuf Medical Center. Mike has worked with HS Jeshua Ministries, who wants to help Mike save up money for a Van that is handicap accessible for him. When asked what he would do with the new, safer form of transport, Mike said that he would volunteer.

Meriann Forrest, the author, speaker and director of Jeshua Ministries says that during the Idaho Gives event yesterday, $410 dollars were raised to help Mike get a van, but encourages others to donate to help Mike, using whatever means they have.

My message to that person would be to reach deep into their heart and realize that you will be giving to someone that will make a real difference.
